Su RuYi: At the Dim Sum & Lunch Buffet Heaven

Concept Su RuYi

At Su RuYi in Winterthur Töss, head chef Soo Kai Fong, former Dim Sum master at Hongxi, has fulfilled his dream of opening his own restaurant. And if you love Dim Sum, you should definitely have this place on your radar.

Soo Kai Fong started his career in Singapore and gained experience at, among other places, the five star Marina Bay Sands hotel. He later worked in Switzerland at the Michelin starred restaurant Tse Fung at Hotel La Réserve in Geneva, as well as at restaurant HONGXI.

Soo Kai Fong brings extensive experience in Cantonese cuisine and has created a place at Su RuYi where he can share his passion for authentic Chinese cuisine. The focus is on handmade Dim Sum and freshly prepared dishes inspired by Cantonese cuisine.

The restaurant is relaxed and uncomplicated. Here, the focus is simply on the food and on trying as many different dishes as possible. That is why I would not just order one dish, but rather get several things for the table and share them together.

Food at Su RuYi

The second big highlight besides the Dim Sum is the lunch buffet. Every day, a variety of Chinese dishes are freshly prepared and served at the buffet. There is a great selection of fried noodles, rice, curries, vegetarian dishes, meat, and fish. And the best part: everything is prepared without ready made products.

The prices at Su RuYi are also hard to beat:

🍜 One plate from the lunch buffet: CHF 16.50
🥡 All you can eat: CHF 23.50

If you prefer to take your food with you, there are also take away options:

Small portion: CHF 10
Large portion: CHF 18.50

You can also order à la carte at lunchtime. The menu includes various Chinese dishes as well as the popular Dim Sum. This is a great alternative if you are not really a buffet person or want to try specific dishes.

My two favorites are the Xiao Long Bao and the Hong You Chao Shou dumplings with prawns. With the Dim Sum in particular, you can tell that the people in the kitchen really know what they are doing.

My Recommendations at Su RuYi

If you are in Winterthur around lunchtime, I would definitely recommend trying the Chinese lunch buffet. For CHF 16.50, you get a plate with freshly prepared dishes that change daily, giving you the chance to try a variety of flavors. If you are really hungry, go for the all you can eat option for CHF 23.50.

If you prefer to order specific dishes, you can also eat à la carte at lunchtime. In that case, I would go straight for the Dim Sum. The Xiao Long Bao definitely belong on the table for me. And you should not miss the Hong You Chao Shou dumplings with prawns either.

For me, Su RuYi is therefore a perfect spot for a relaxed and uncomplicated lunch. You can either explore a variety of Chinese dishes at the buffet or order exactly what you feel like from the à la carte menu.

And one little good to know tip: for birthday celebrations and weddings, all guests receive a complimentary dessert. 🥹

For me, Su RuYi is a really exciting address for Cantonese and Chinese food in Winterthur. Whether you are stopping by for a quick lunch, sitting down for a generous Dim Sum meal, or getting something to take away, everything is freshly prepared, there is plenty of choice, and above all, you can tell how much passion goes into the Cantonese cuisine here.
