Concept Anoah

Anoah in Zurich clearly shows how exciting vegan cuisine can be. The restaurant stands for plant based fine dining, where only plant based ingredients are used and yet nothing feels missing. On the contrary, the dishes are prepared at a level that even dedicated meat lovers find surprising.

Behind the concept is a young and creative team led by Noah Rechsteiner, working with great passion and a spirit of experimentation. The kitchen focuses strongly on seasonal and regional ingredients, which are constantly reinterpreted in new ways. The menu changes regularly, keeping it exciting for returning guests as well as first time visitors.

The restaurant is located near Rigiplatz, just a few steps away from the Rigiblick funicular railway. Inside you will find an open kitchen and a relaxed atmosphere, while outside there are seats surrounded by greenery. Overall, Anoah is rather small and intimate, which makes the experience even more special.

The goal of the team is clear: to show how diverse and creative plant based cuisine can be. Not as a replacement for something else, but as a culinary world of its own.

Food at Anoah

At Anoah you will not find a traditional restaurant with a large menu, but rather a fine dining tasting menu with several courses. You can choose between a five or six course menu, which is completely plant based and created according to the season.

The dishes are creative and play with different textures, intense flavors, and surprising combinations. One of the best known dishes is the signature creation Purple Rain, a red cabbage risotto with truffle and kimchi that shows just how much umami plant based cuisine can offer. The truffle often comes from Milo, Noah’s truffle dog.

To accompany the menu, you can choose a wine pairing or a non alcoholic beverage pairing, which often includes homemade juices or fermented drinks. This makes the dinner a complete culinary experience.

In addition to the evening menu, Anoah also offers a plant based brunch on weekends, which is seasonal as well and includes several dishes as well as a buffet.

Everything is carefully presented and the team creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

My Recommendations at Anoah

If you are visiting Anoah for the first time, I would clearly recommend the six course menu. It gives you the full experience and allows you to explore the different ideas of the kitchen.

The non alcoholic beverage pairing is also very exciting. The homemade juices and fermented drinks match the dishes surprisingly well and show how versatile food pairings without alcohol can be.

I can also highly recommend the brunch. There is usually a mix of savory and sweet dishes served à la minute, followed by a buffet with Bircher muesli, croissants, and a variety of spreads and yogurts, making sure everyone leaves satisfied.
