The most beautiful restaurant terraces in Zurich 2023

☀️ A short vacation with a Tuscan feeling, including a fine tavolata in the countryside. This is actually also available in Zurich, namely at Berg 8044 in the Stadtoase.

The restaurant, run by Cecilia and Eero Meili is located under the open sky already exists since 2019. In the 1920/30s, it was originally opened by the city of Zurich as a natural spa. The tavolata consists of three courses of international delicacies, followed by a choice of mini desserts. However, the choice is difficult ;-) In addition to the Tavolata menu, there is also an exclusive meat selection.

As soon as you hold the hand-written menu in your hands at Restaurant Bürgli, you will be delighted with this warm welcome and the time ahead. The Bürgli offers seasonal cuisine of high quality. The menu also includes various dishes for vegetarians. From time to time there are exhibitions of various artists and Sunday mornings with live bands. An absolute dream is the garden with a view over Lake Zurich.

My tip:  the house speciality Entrecôte Café de Paris & fries, if there is still room order the legendary chocolate cake

Camino offers a unique ambience imbued with cosiness and privacy. In summer, the secluded garden invites you to dine and linger. At lunchtime the restaurant serves three menus with fish, meat or vegetarian. The entire à la carte offer is also available. The traditional Central European cuisine of Lukas Strejcek is fresh, simple and wants to touch the guests emotionally. 

My tip: Menu Surprise (4 courses)

'Da Angela' has been conjuring up Italian-Mediterranean cuisine for many years with fresh, carefully selected products. The well-kept restaurant offers first-class service. The menu includes seasonal specialities as well as "Angela classics". The wine selection is very varied.

My tip: seafood, especially the giant prawns... yum.

Didi's Frieden is a stylish restaurant with excellent service and Mediterranean garden for the summer months. The products are of high quality and predominantly from Swiss suppliers. The market kitchen with a Mediterranean touch offers a great mix of meat, fish and specially prepared vegetable variations. The decoration of the dessert plates with chocolate comics is ingenious. At lunchtime there are 8 changing lunch menus between CHF 27 and 36 including soup or salad to choose from.

My tip: follow the recommendations of the house

Drei Stuben stands for fresh, seasonal market cuisine with cheeky influences as well as unusual new creations. The reception is friendly and uncomplicated. The interior is rather rustic due to the wooden clad walls, outside in the beautiful garden the atmosphere is Mediterranean and homely. 

My tip: Enjoy a mild summer evening together with friends in the garden.

If you want to experience the typical, relaxed atmosphere of the Gartenhof restaurant, the best way to get around is a mild summer evening. Please make a reservation! The garden is illuminated by light bulbs and exudes an atmosphere that one wishes the evening would never end. The menu is small and fine with exquisite products. Relatively much is cooked with fish and seafood. At noon there are three different menus, optionally with soup or garden court salad, a beef tartar and a salad with side dish. In the colder months there are Moules et Frites and the Wild Weeks.

My tip: In summer, spend the afternoon in the garden with a refreshing drink (unofficially it is open all day :))

Elif Oskan also known as Miss Marshall and various pop-ups has now opened her own Turkish restaurant. It's all about oriental hospitality, best celebrated with Ocakbasi (charcoal grill) food and shared according to the Turkish way of life. The ingredients are carefully selected, from producers who know the restaurant and, if possible, from organic production.

My tip: Iskender chicken with tomatoes, yoghurt & butter sauce. In addition there is Ekmek - homemade bread from the charcoal oven. 

MICAS GARTEN is an approximately 3`000sqm urban oasis in Altstetten and offers around 500 seats.😍 Spectacular hanging gardens and a generous roof terrace offer space to sunbathe and relax. Several bars and changing street food kitchens ensure a varied offering. Perfect for larger groups, families and corporate events. There are also 2 table tennis tables and a table football table available (for free).

At the Restaurant Oberes Triemli you feel right at home in home-style cuisine. In summer you can meet the guests mainly in the beer garden. Also ideal for parties. Classics include the grilled sole, the chateaubriand, served on the square or the fine meatloaf of the house.

The Italian restaurant Paneolio stands for authentic, fresh cuisine without frills, with lots of amore and high-quality products. In summer the small garden restaurant invites you to linger. In the colder months, when the guests are sitting inside again, things can get tight and loud in the rather small restaurant. Highly recommended are the hearty pasta dishes and the fish, which varies depending on the market offer.

My Tip: Fettuccine alla amatriciana with shrimps

The PURO stands for simple, high-quality dishes with a focus on regional products in a feel-good atmosphere. It is located near Paradeplatz, a little away from the hustle and bustle. If the weather is fine, coffee and cake or aperitifs with fine signature drinks can be enjoyed in the cosy inner courtyard to Brunnengeplätscher. Every Wednesday evening from 17-19 o'clock there is a small aperitif buffet free of charge. During the week, specially created salads, paninis, quiches and other specialities are available as take-away at lunchtime. There are changing lunch dishes with soup or salad. In the "living room" on the first floor with its stylish arches, you feel right at home and can spend relaxing hours in a private atmosphere, e.g. over dinner.

My Tip: Puro Burger with Roast Beef in Crispy Lye Bun with Sweet Potatoe Fries

The Lindenhofkeller, which reopened at the end of 2022, has been completely renovated, given a new concept and now serves fine bourgeois cuisine. Chef Sebastian Rösch and his team combine the best of fine dining and traditional cuisine - Swiss and Franconian (Sebastian's home) specialities. 

In addition to the beautiful terrace in the inner courtyard, there are two different dining rooms: in the upper part with a cosy tiled stove, you can dine somewhat secluded, while in the lower area with a semi-open kitchen, you can watch the team at work and an exchange between guest and restaurant staff is desired. 

Sommelier and restaurant manager Alexander Schmidt runs the restaurant together with Sebastian and offers excellent service as well as fine cocktail creations. The menu includes a hearty snack with original Franconian pretzels and freshly tapped beer, as well as changing seasonal dishes of a high quality. 😋 In addition to the topic of sustainability, a special focus is also on constant further development and experimentation with new ingredients from the region.

My tip: Chef's choice menu

The TAO's is located in the center of Zurich and is managed by the operators of the restaurant AURA. Cooking is Euro-Asian. The beautiful terrace, surrounded by an Asian mini jungle, is a real jewel to linger in summer. Great for a business lunch or a romantic date night. However, there is a price to pay. In addition, TAO's can also host corporate and private events for 10-150 people.
