Egyptian specialties by Ashraf at Pyramids
Pyramids concept
Pyramids Restaurant is the only restaurant in Zurich serving Egyptian cuisine: authentic, aromatic, and cooked with love. Instead of an adapted “Oriental version,” here you can enjoy dishes that are deeply rooted in Egyptian food culture.
The concept was developed by Ashraf, who originally comes from Egypt and deliberately focuses on his culinary roots. His cuisine tells of family recipes, shared meals, and the natural way in which many small dishes are shared in Egypt. This is exactly the feeling he wants to convey at Pyramids: arrive, sit together, and enjoy.
The restaurant combines traditional recipes with a modern, uncomplicated atmosphere – ideal for a relaxed lunch or a longer evening with friends.
Dining at Pyramids
At Pyramids Restaurant Zurich, it's all about variety on the plate. The kitchen works with typical Egyptian spices, legumes, fresh vegetables, and slow-cooked dishes that are intense in flavor without being heavy.
Themezze are particularly memorable: several small dishes served together that are perfect for sharing. From creamy dips to crispy classics and warm specialties, the result is a varied meal that you can sample your way through. You should also try the original classics such as koshari, shawarma, or the grilled specialties.
At lunchtime, Pyramids offers a varied buffet that is ideal for a short but special break. In the evening, the atmosphere is more relaxed – perfect for taking your time and combining different dishes.
Vegetarian options also play an important role here and are firmly anchored in Egyptian cuisine – not as a substitute, but as a fully-fledged main course.
My tip at Pyramids
Lunch buffet, also good for trying out new things, and mezze variations to share in the evening.
