Tadka Zurich: Authentic North Indian Cuisine & All-You-Can-Eat Buffet
Concept Tadka
Tadka in Zurich, near the Museum of Design, is more than just an Indian restaurant. It’s a place where North India comes to life on the plates of Zurich. The moment you step in, you can feel the passion with which Kumar and his team work. Everything is fresh, authentic, and packed with the flavors you would expect from a real Indian family recipe. Luckily, just a bit less spicy. ;-)
The heart of the kitchen is the tandoor oven, which gives the dishes their signature, slightly smoky flavor. Whether you visit for a quick lunch or a relaxed evening with friends, the atmosphere is warm, inviting, and truly authentic.
Food at Tadka
The culinary offerings at Tadka are diverse and perfect for anyone wanting to explore Indian specialties. One of the most popular options is the all-you-can-eat buffet, available at different prices for lunch and dinner:
- Lunch (Mon–Fri): CHF 19.50
- Dinner (Fri & Sat): CHF 38.50 (CHF 35.50 for vegetarians)
Here, you get the full range of North Indian cuisine, always fresh, homemade, and aromatic. A standout is the creamiest Butter Chicken I’ve ever had, prepared according to traditional family recipes. It pairs perfectly with Garlic Naan fresh from the tandoor or homemade Paneer, which is sure to delight vegetarians and meat-eaters alike.
The buffet is thoughtfully curated: from spicy curries to mild classics, plus sides and appetizers like Samosa or Pakora that perfectly complement the main dishes. Everything is homemade, fresh, and presented with care – exactly what you would expect from an authentic Indian restaurant.
For dessert, there’s a real highlight: Mango Kulfi ice cream – creamy, light, and the perfect finish to any Indian meal.
My Recommendations at Tadka
If it’s your first time at Tadka, I recommend going for the buffet. For meat lovers, the Butter Chicken is a must – juicy, creamy, and perfectly spiced. If you order à la carte, make sure to get Garlic Naan and the homemade Paneer from the tandoor oven.
Evenings are especially worth a visit: the dinner buffet on Fridays and Saturdays offers the full selection and is a true experience, great for groups or families. Vegetarians are well taken care of here too – many dishes are fully plant-based but still packed with flavor.
My tip: always save a little room for dessert. The Mango Kulfi ice cream rounds off the meal perfectly and is a classic you won’t forget.
Tadka is a place where you don’t just eat, but truly experience Indian cuisine in all its variety. Kumar and his team make sure you feel welcome, your food is served at the perfect temperature, and your evening is relaxed and enjoyable. Perfect for a lunch with colleagues or a cozy weekend dinner – here, you can feel that everything is made with heart and love.
